St Etienne vs Nice Prediction & Tips
It’s the big kick-off of the play-offs to decide which team will be the last to compete in Ligue 1 next season. This Tuesday at 8.45 pm, AS Saint-Étienne and OGC Nice will face off in the first leg at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. After finishing third in Ligue 2, Les Verts had a nervy start to the play-offs, needing a penalty shoot-out to see off Rodez AF. Philippe Montanier’s side will be looking to put in a much better performance this Tuesday evening.
This is proving to be a very difficult campaign for OGC Nice. We expected them to be challenging for European places in Ligue 1. Instead, they find themselves in greater danger than ever as the season draws to a close. Les Aiglons have had to settle for 16th place in the top flight of French football. They will therefore have to contest this play-off in the hope of staying up. Having just lost the Coupe de France final to RC Lens (3-1), Claude Puel’s men may struggle to pick themselves up just a few days later.
