Sporting begins its European League campaign Thursday when it hosts Azerbaijan, Qarabag, Estadio Jose Alvalade. They were impressive in the home match with Sheriff, who was disputed on their own ground, when they managed to score 3-0 and return the deficit of a goal in the tournament, when the Moldavians won 1-0.
Qarabag scored a 1-0 victory at Sumqayit in the 3rd round of the domestic championship. Now it is ranked 3th with 7 points in the first 3 stages.
The Thursday evening will be the first direct encounter between the two teams.
