Sevilla – Ath Bilbao (Pick, Prediction, Preview) Preview

Sevilla vs Ath Bilbao Prediction & Tips

In an impressive streak of five wins and eight matchdays without losing (22/24 points – G7, E1) in LaLiga Santander (LL), Sevilla FC should not be underestimated in the title fight. Showing great fighting ability, the red and white have achieved each of those five consecutive wins by the minimum, conceding in the second half only one of the five goals scored against them during that victorious series.
No team has scored more points in their last ten home games than Sevilla (27/30), and none of those ten games played at Sánchez-Pizjuán have ended in a draw (W9, P1). Julen Lopetegui’s team, already classified for the Champions League, have nothing to lose and much to gain in the final five days of the championship. It is interesting to note, however, that Sevilla is the only team that has yet to score any points when they have conceded the opening goal at home, and none of their 16 LL games in their fiefdom this season have been won by the team that fit first.
The first goal was also crucial in Athletic’s seven previous league games, although fortunately for the lions, none of their seven rivals in that series opened the scoring (W1, E6). Athletic have minimal chances of achieving a European place, and conceding goals in the final stretch of the game has prevented the rojiblancos from being higher in the table. The Lions’ previous four goals against at LL have been scored from the 70th minute, and two of them evened the score after the 80th minute, costing them four valuable points.
Sánchez-Pizjuán, a terrain not very conducive to Athletic: no triumph for the Basque team in their last eight league visits to the white-and-red fiefdom (E2, P6). In addition, Athletic chain five starts without knowing the victory in the current championship (E4, P1), so it is not surprising that Sevilla are clear favorites for the victory. Not having such condition, Athletic has not yet added the three points this season (E5, P4).
Players to watch: Youssef En-Nesyri has scored two goals in Sevilla’s last four home games at LL, and the Nervionense team have won each of the last 11 league games in which En-Nesyri has seen the door. Similarly, Athletic have not lost any of the seven games (G6, E1) in which Álex Berenguer, their top scorer in LL has scored this season (eight goals).
Highlight: before this day, only Real Madrid have scored more head goals in LL this season (15) than Sevilla (11) or Athletic (nine).
