Leganés, in 18th place and first to be relegated, still have a slim chance of saving themselves on the final day of La Liga. The equation is simple: Leganés will remain in Spanish football’s elite if they beat bottom-placed Valladolid and if Espanyol Barcelona fail to beat Las Palmas. Alvaro Rubio’s side have gone 4 months without a win since 11 January, and are currently on an 11-game losing streak. The month of May followed on from April, with defeats to Barcelona (1-2), Mallorca (2-1), Girona (0-1) and Deportivo Alavés (0-1) on 18 May.
