Latvia vs Albania Prediction & Tips
The Latvian national team has only once in its history reached the finals of a major tournament: Euro 2004. Since then, this modest team has never come close to repeating that feat, and is not expected to fight for a World Cup ticket.
In the current qualifiers, Latvia have played two matches and collected three points. Paolo Nicolato’s side beat Andorra 1-0 away, as expected, and then lost a predictable 3-0 at Wembley to England. Last week, Latvia drew 0-0 in a friendly against Azerbaijan.
Albania, meanwhile, are enjoying the best moment in their football history. The ‘Eagles’ have twice reached the European Championship finals and are now aiming to fight for a place in the play-offs for the World Cup. Everyone understands that to finish first in a group with England is practically impossible.
In their first three games of this World Cup qualification, Sylvinho’s team have taken four points and are currently second in the group. In their last match, Albania drew 0-0 with Serbia, although they came closest to victory. Before that they lost to England (0-2) and beat Andorra (3-0).
