With one game remaining in the season, Empoli are still on the brink of relegation, sitting 17th in the table. Roberto D’Aversa’s side are in the danger zone and only a win on the last matchday can guarantee their Serie A survival. If they draw, the fate of the ‘azzurri’ will depend on the results of their direct rivals: Lecce and Venezia. A defeat would condemn them to Serie B.
