Bristol City have languished in the Championship for a decade and, for the first time in that time, are close to possible promotion. The team is in fifth place and has moved four points clear of seventh place.
The games against Luton and Preston look fairly accessible, however, the battle against Sunderland and the clash with Leeds promise to be very difficult. Dropping points is not desirable, as competitors are waiting for a slip-up.
Sunderland are having a powerful season, however, they are no longer challenging for a direct ticket to the Premier League. The Black Cats have secured a place in the playoffs and will, in all likelihood, finish in fourth position.
It is highly likely that the upcoming game against Bristol will not be Sunderland’s last this season. If the teams finish in positions 4 and 5, they will meet in the semi-final of the playoffs.
