Poland – Nigeria Prediction & Tips
Poland’s 2-0 loss to Ukraine on Sunday in a friendly was their second consecutive defeat, following their World Cup playoff loss to Sweden in March. Another setback here would mark their worst run in over three years, and Jan Urban’s men hope that returning to Warsaw will help them turn things around, as they have not lost in their last four matches in the capital (3W, 1D). Although Poland has failed to keep a clean sheet in its last five matches (2W, 1D, 2L), the fact that the loss to Ukraine was their first in a friendly since 2018 (9W, 3D) suggests they can bounce back this time.
Their opponent, Nigeria, has missed the last two World Cups, but has lost only one of its last 11 matches (9W, 1D), so they cannot be underestimated. That run includes a third-place finish at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles’ only loss came on penalties against Morocco, and ended with a convincing 3-0 victory over Jamaica last weekend. Éric Chelle hopes his team can maintain that level of play, though he is concerned that they have managed just one win in their eight matches against European teams (2 draws, 5 losses) since defeating Poland in 2018.
