Newcastle vs Brighton Prediction & Tips
Newcastle’s season started with high expectations at the beginning of the year, but now their fans are hoping it will end as soon as possible after the team has suffered five consecutive losses across all competitions. Manager Eddie Howe is under pressure, having racked up 16 Premier League losses this season—his worst tally since the 17 suffered in 2020/21. Seven of those losses have come at St. James’ Park, where the Magpies have lost five of their last six league matches (W1). Another loss here could make Newcastle just the second team in Premier League history to lose five straight matches at any stadium by a one-goal margin.
Brighton enters as the favorite to secure sixth place and qualify for the UEFA Europa League, following an excellent run of six wins in their last eight league matches (D1, L1). That’s as many wins as they managed in their previous 23 league matches (D9, L8), and includes a convincing 3-0 victory over Chelsea, after which they’ve had ten days to recover. They have lost only twice all season to teams currently in the bottom half of the table (W7, D8), which boosts the Seagulls’ confidence, as does their four-game unbeaten streak on the road (W3, D1).
