Espanyol has gotten off to a good start, following up its impressive victory over Atlético Madrid on the first matchday with a 2-2 draw against Real Sociedad, although squandering a two-goal lead left manager Manolo González with a bitter taste in his mouth. Even so, it is a much better start than last season, when they had already suffered two defeats in two games, so the signs are positive for the Barcelona side to be more competitive this year. In addition, they seem to have what it takes to maintain their good run at home, where they have lost only two of their last 14 La Liga games (six wins, six draws).
