Last season, Young Boys failed to win their third consecutive Super League title, conceding the championship to Basel. In the new campaign, the team represents Switzerland in the Europa League. The start of the season for the ‘yellow-blacks’ has not been convincing: after a win at home against Servette, the team has drawn twice and suffered a heavy defeat against Basel 1-4. Young Boys are currently sixth in the table.

However, the penalty shoot-out proved fateful for the Slovakian champions and the team continued their European journey in the Europa League. After the defeat in the first match against Young Boys, Slovan drew 1-1 with Michalovce in the league. Currently, the team occupies only fifth place in the national championship table.
