Oldham vs Southend Prediction & Tips
Oldham was founded at the end of the 19th century. Just for its centenary it achieved its greatest success: it was promoted to the English top flight and stayed there for a couple of seasons. It then began a slow decline, slipping down the table until recently dropping to the fifth division in the country’s top flight. Last season, they did not stand out too much, finishing discreetly in tenth position.
Southend has never been particularly brilliant. But it used to move between League One or, at best, League Two, and even occasionally moved up a notch. This decade began with financial problems (which have still not been fully resolved), and the impact of the coronavirus confinement was particularly harsh. As a result, they went down twice. At least they managed to stay in the National League: a year ago they finished close behind their current rivals in ninth place.
