Ferrol has never been promoted to the First Division. However, throughout its century-long history, it has spent quite a few seasons in the second division. However, since the mid-2000s, the club went through a very difficult period, being relegated several times to the fourth division. Already in the silver division, the newcomers surprised, making it into the top-10.
