Genoa vs Atalanta Prediction & Tips
The clash between Genoa and Atalanta is the only match of the penultimate round of Serie A fixtures in which neither the title, European qualification nor relegation is at stake, so it has been scheduled for Saturday. But that doesn’t mean it will be boring, as Genoa drew 2-2 against Scudetto contenders Napoli last Sunday, ending a run of four straight wins for the league leaders, while the last two meetings between them had 11 total goals.
Despite their positive result last time out, Genoa also stretched their winless run to five games (E2, P3) and will be desperate to end their home season with a win. Their disappointing Serie A record at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris this season (G5, E7, P6) means expectations among supporters will not be high, while only seven of those games had at least three goals.
Atalanta secured their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) with a 2-1 home win over Roma on Monday night and will finish third whatever happens in the final two rounds. Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have been in fine form at the end of the season, winning four of their last five games (E1) and keeping three clean sheets in that span.
