Following the restructuring of the club in 2014, the Istanbul municipality took Başakşehir under its wing, marking the start of a meteoric rise. The first successes were not long in coming and, after several years of second place finishes, in 2020 the club won its first Turkish championship title.

Not even José Mourinho’s arrival on the bench has changed the picture, with the team once again in the shadow of Galatasaray, who are on the verge of celebrating another title.
