All hopes of a treble for Barcelona were dashed against Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-finals. The Spaniards started as favourites, but fell in a thrilling duel and must now focus all their efforts on the domestic competition.
After the match in Milan, in which the Culés succumbed in extra time, Flick complained about the refereeing, although Barcelona’s play was far from ideal. Interestingly, in both games the Blaugrana conceded two goals before half-time. On both occasions, they managed to react, but the outcome of the tie was not in their favour.
With four games to go, Real Madrid are four points behind their main rivals in the LaLiga table. This Clásico will be absolutely key in the fight for the title, as any result other than victory would leave Los Blancos virtually out of the running.
If Real Madrid manage to win, they will still have a chance to salvage a season that, so far, cannot be considered successful. Moreover, it is already all but decided that the club will start next season with a new coach, as Carlo Ancelotti will take over the Brazil national team at the end of the season.
