Freiburg vs Union Berlin Prediction & Tips
Freiburg have become one of the biggest surprises of the current Bundesliga season. After the departure of legendary coach Christian Streich, many predicted a significant drop for the ‘eagles’, but now they are in the fight for a Champions League spot. Freiburg are in sixth place, and the gap to the top four is only three points.
Freiburg come into the match against Union on the back of three consecutive draws. On the previous matchday, Julian Schuster’s side drew 2-2 with Mainz, and before that, they drew 0-0 with RB Leipzig and Augsburg. The last defeat was on 25 January against Bayern (1-2).
Union started the current season excellently and even came close to the top 4 at some point. But then the results dropped drastically and the ‘Iron’ changed their head coach: instead of Bo Svensson, they appointed Steffen Baumgart. But so far this decision has not helped to improve the results. Union is on the 13th place with 27 points, but the distance to the relegation zone is quite significant – 7 points.
In the last two matches, Union managed to improve their position thanks to a draw and a win. On the previous matchday, Union drew unexpectedly against Bayern (1-1), and before that, they beat Eintracht 2-1.
