Slovan Bratislava – Pyunik Yerevan (Pick, Prediction, Preview) Preview

Slovan Bratislava vs Pyunik Yerevan Prediction & Tips

Nothing is decided in UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) Group H, with all four teams separated by just three points after four rounds, so a win in this clash for either Slovan Bratislava or Pyunik Yerevan would be of paramount importance. Slovan will also be looking to avenge the defeat of the previous meeting between the two clubs in September in Armenia – their only group stage loss this season (G1, E2).
The Slovak side should be confident as they are unbeaten at home since losing in the Europa League qualifying round to Olympiacos on penalties in August (G3, E3), although their two UECL group stage matches played at this venue this season ended in draws, with the last one against Basel (3-3) seeing them let a 3-1 lead slip away. They could take even more momentum from the last time they hosted Pyunik, when they beat them 5-0 in 2017.
But Pyunik, who have a point more than Slovan, have progressed since then, almost reaching the Europa League group stage in August, and are now fighting to reach the knockout stage of a UEFA competition for the first time ever (G2, P2). Two consecutive one-goal league wins should have boosted the team’s morale as they head to Slovakia.
However, their away form on the continental stage has not been the best, with both of their UECL group stage defeats coming in that capacity, while Friday’s 1-0 league win over Shirak ended a run of six consecutive away defeats. In fact, their only win in six appearances on rival soil in European competition this season (90 minutes: E2, P3) came against Dudelange, so a win in this clash would be a real achievement for them.
Players to watch: Vladimir Weiss has scored Slovan’s first goal in each of their last two home games, while Pyunik will look to lean on Yusuf Otubanjo, as he has won six of seven games in which he has found the back of the net this season (P1), with two of his last three goals being registered in the first 15 minutes of play.
Key stat: The halftime score was reflected after the final whistle in every Slovan match in this season’s UECL group stage.
