West Ham – Leicester (Pick, Prediction, Preview) Preview

West Ham vs Leicester Prediction & Tips

It was a dream start for West Ham United, as they won and scored more goals on the opening day of the Premier League (PL) than in their previous first seven combined matches of a new PL season. Another win here will show a true sign of intent for the Hammers against last season’s FA Cup winners and furthermore, it would be the first time they have opened a season with two league wins since the 2009/10 season! .

With the return of the fans, West Ham can build on what was a positive campaign playing at home in 2020-21, scoring more points at home than all PL teams except champion Manchester City. They also won all but one of the official matches played on a Monday (G6, P1), including three home games – West Ham scored two or more goals in each of them, which could be a good omen for this commitment.

After failing to finish in the top four at the end of last season, Leicester City have started this campaign brilliantly, winning both the Community Shield and their first PL game – in both cases they kept their goal unbeaten. After another solid transfer window, the Foxes will look to secure qualification for the Champions League this season.

Leicester may need at least two away goals to beat the Hammers, as they have avoided an opponent’s goal in just three of their 28 previous PL meetings (W9, E6, P13). Furthermore, he was unable to keep a clean sheet in any Monday PL game last season (G2, E1, P1), although two of his last four wins in his first away game of the PL season were against him. West Ham.
Players to watch: Michail Antonio will become West Ham’s top scorer in PL history if he scores one more time, as he equaled Paolo Di Canio’s record of 47 goals the previous day. Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho has been directly involved in four goals in his last four games against Leicester – three goals and one assist.
Highlight: Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has won just three of his ten games against opposing strategist David Moyes (E2, P5) – without avoiding an opponent’s goal in four of the last five.
