Lille vs Rennes Prediction & Tips
The Champions League still underway has revalued a championship perhaps too little considered as Ligue 1. Often mistreated, the French movement has shown that it is capable of bringing two teams to the top in the international field. And if PSG’s success certainly doesn’t come as a surprise, the same cannot be said of Lyon’s excellent Champions League progress, perhaps too superficially labeled simply as “the seventh of the French championship”. Behind Ligue 1 there is much more, because not only is it a high-level tournament, but every year it shows off excellent players (often very young) who then become protagonists of important seasons. And often Lilac and Rennes produce some very interesting ones. Also for this reason the challenge between these two teams is particularly intriguing.
Being the first in the championship, we do not have a lot of statistical data to support them: we can however say that Lille and Rennes start with high-ranking ambitions (as last year amply demonstrated).
Both Lille and Rennes, however, ended the pre-season with a defeat. Not exactly encouraging in view of the start of the championship …
The hosts lost to Dutch rivals AZ in an international friendly, with the final result 2-1.
The guests, on the other hand, gave way to Nice in an all-French friendly (3-2 for the Côte d’Azur team).
However, Rennes had previously done very well in their other preparatory matches, clearly beating Saint-Etienne (3-0).
Conversely, the one against AZ is not the only defeat suffered by Lille in this pre-season (also against Bruges it ended 2-0 for the Belgians, while against Anderlecht it ended 2-0 in favor of the French) . Considering that we are only at the beginning of the season, we expect mechanisms that are not too oiled in defense: we choose the Over 1.5 option.
