It looked as though Paris FC were set for a strong finish to the season after going seven games unbeaten in Antoine Kombouaré’s first matches in charge (4W, 3D). However, the manager suffered his first defeat in the job last weekend, losing 1-0 at home to Lille. The quick return to the capital can only be seen as a positive for a team that had previously won three consecutive home matches. Furthermore, the Parisian side have not lost two consecutive league matches at their stadium since October 2023. However, that run could come to an end this weekend, as Kombouaré has failed to secure a win in his last five personal encounters against Brest (1D, 4L).

Whilst Paris FC have been in good form recently, Brest have followed the opposite trend. Their winless run in the league stretched to five matches last weekend (2 draws, 3 defeats) after squandering a 3-0 lead in a 3-3 draw against title-chasing Lens. As a result, the side have now dropped 17 points after taking the lead during the season, the highest tally in the league ahead of this matchday. The fact that they have kept a clean sheet in just one of their last 12 away matches in Ligue 1 will not give them much confidence to see out the game if they take the lead. Despite this, they have one positive omen: they have won their last three top-flight matches against newly promoted sides.

Strasbourg failed to rise to the occasion in their first major European semi-final and lost the first leg 1-0 to Rayo Vallecano without managing a single shot on target. It is likely that “Le Racing” will prioritise the return leg over this fixture, as European qualification via their Ligue 1 position seems unlikely. This is despite the fact that Gary O’Neil’s men have won three of their last four league matches (W3). That figure matches the number of wins the team managed in their previous 14 matches (D6, L5). However, the home side have lost without scoring in their last two matches at the Stade de la Meinau and could lose two consecutive league matches at home for the first time since March 2024.

Toulouse’s season is drifting aimlessly towards its conclusion, having suffered seven defeats since matchday 21 (W2, D2), the highest tally in the league ahead of this round. Safe from relegation and with no chance of finishing in the top six, the Violets find themselves in a familiar position. This is the fourth consecutive season in which they have accumulated between 35 and 40 points after 31 matchdays.
