Brest vs St Etienne Prediction & Tips
Brest’s longest winning streak in Ligue 1 (G4) since their return to the first division in the 2019/20 season has the club in possibly their best position in a decade. Having been close to the relegation zone in each of their last two Ligue 1 seasons, the home side will be well aware of the dangers that comfort can bring.
However, the home team have yet to win any of their three games in which they started as favorites in Ligue 1 this season (E2, P1). They might be willing to rectify that though, as they have scored more than two goals in their four consecutive victories, something they had only achieved once in their first 11 Ligue 1 games (a 2-4 loss to PSG ).
Given that St-Étienne have had more successes than Brest in the last decade, including finishing at the top of the table in nine of their last 11 Ligue 1 seasons, it may come as a surprise that “Les Verts” did not have been able to defeat Brest in neither of the last two seasons (E1, P3), despite having scored on all four occasions.
Bottom of the table St-Étienne are going through their worst season in more than ten years (the last time they were last in the Ligue 1 table after 15 games was in 2008/09 ). His last visit (1-0 at Troyes) earned him his only away win so far this season in Ligue 1, as well as his only unbeaten goal in any stadium, but at least his attack has only missed two times throughout the Ligue 1 season.
Players to watch: Following his back-to-back appearances as a scorer, Jérémy La Dourados became the fourth Brest player to score in at least four Ligue 1 games this season. Denis Bouanga was the scorer of St-Étienne’s first goal on the final matchday and has scored in four of the seven meetings he has played against Brest in all competitions.
Highlight: Neither club has drawn 0-0 this season in Ligue 1.
