Sassuolo vs Juventus Prediction & Tips

A two-goal lead after 24 minutes was not enough for Sassuolo to record their second win of this Serie A (SA) season as they lost 4-2 to Frosinone the previous matchday (G1, P3). Coach Alessio Dionisi blamed his “shallow” approach as the Neroverdi conceded three goals after 69 minutes, meaning their three-point record at this stage is their lowest since 2017/18.
Sassuolo have had two mixed home performances so far this season as they lost 2-0 to Atalanta but celebrated the return of captain Domenico Berardi to the side by beating Verona 3-1, a game in which the fan favorite scored an impressive double. However, that was the Neroverdi’s only home win in league action in the last five attempts (E1, P3), a record they need to improve if they are to surpass their 13th place finish achieved in last season’s SA campaign.

A convincing 3-1 win over Lazio in their last match raised Juventus fans’ hopes of a possible title challenge this season after an unbeaten start in SA (G3, E1). According to coach Massimiliano Allegri, Juve’s goal is simply to get 76 points in this campaign as “that should be enough to finish in the top four” to get back into the Champions League.
The visitors have a perfect record playing away from home this season, winning both of their games in this condition without conceding goals and will now look to win their first three clashes on rival soil while keeping a clean sheet for the first time since 2014. However, they conceded goals in each of the last four meetings against their opponents at this venue, but despite that, Juventus still boast a good record in their last seven visits to the Mapei Stadium (G5, E1, P1).

Players to watch: All three of Andrea Pinamonti’s goals this SA season were registered in the first 25 minutes of play, including his brace last Saturday. Similarly, Federico Chiesa has scored in three of his four SA games this season, with two of his goals being registered in the first half-hour of their respective clash.
Key stat: A first-half penalty has been awarded in both of Juventus’ away league games this season, while Sassuolo’s last three matches have also seen a penalty awarded.
