Paris FC vs Metz Prediction & Tips
Paris FC had an unpleasant preview of what to expect from France’s top clubs on the final matchday, losing 5-2 away to last season’s runners-up Marseille. That result hides the fact that they came back from 2-0 down and even had the chance to take the lead in the second half, which is why midfielder Maxime López was proud of the performance. This should give the team a boost ahead of their visit to the Stade Jean-Bouin, having won 13 of their 17 league games at home (D2, L2) at the less intimate Stade Charléty last season.
Metz have had a very similar start to Paris FC, who lost to Strasbourg (1-0 at home) and Lyon (3-0 away), both teams finishing in the top half of the table last season. After a difficult week, marked by both defeat and the soap opera surrounding Cheikh Sabaly’s demands to leave the club, they should appreciate having moved into the theoretical lower half of their new division and the opportunity to take a step in the right direction. History also seems to be on their side, as Metz have won nine of their last 16 Ligue 1 matches against a newly promoted club on occasions when Metz themselves were also newly promoted (D3, L4), which bodes well for last season’s strongest away team in Ligue 2 (W8, D5, L4).
