Nice vs Troyes Prediction & Tips
Nice’s hopes of reaching European competition next season took another blow against direct rivals Monaco last time out (1-0). With just one win in their last six Ligue 1 matches (E2, P3), Nice find themselves sixth going into the day, and in desperate need of a turnaround if they are to secure European competition.
The good news is that three of Nice’s five remaining league games will be played at the Allianz Riviera, where they have lost just one of their last seven (G5, E1). None of those seven matches ended with a margin of more than one goal, something that has only happened twice this season, which shows how evenly matched this Ligue 1 is.
Troyes are coming off a 1-0 loss to relegation rivals Clermont, with the match-winning goal coming in the 88th minute and marking Troyes’ third straight game without a win (E1, P2), which has worsened their situation. Just two points above relegation at the start of the day, the team must fight for every point and hope other results go their way, as four of their five remaining matches are against teams in the top half of the table.
On a positive note for ESTAC, they have found the back of the net in their last eight away league games, scoring seven of the nine goals in that run in the first half. A good stat to remember for this match, as Troyes look for their first double over Nice.
Players to watch: Nice striker Andy Delort has scored his last five goals at home, and also opened the scoring in the last three games in which he has found the net. Troyes’ Mama Baldé scored the winner in the first leg and all three of her goals this season have come in the first half.
Weekend stat: Nice are one of three teams yet to lose in Ligue 1 when opening the scoring (G12, E2).
