Eddie Howe’s side impressed in the first game against Arsenal, winning convincingly 2-0 in London. Newcastle now only need to hold on to their lead and avoid a defeat by more than one goal to advance to the final. They have already knocked out several Premier League clubs in this year’s League Cup, including Brentford, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.
If the Magpies can get past Arsenal, it will be their third appearance in the final of the competition. Remarkably, Newcastle have not lost in normal time in their last eight League Cup matches, winning six and drawing two. In terms of their away cup record, they have lost just one game in normal time in their last 10 away games, winning five and drawing four. Moreover, last weekend, the Gunners thrashed Manchester City 5-1 at the Emirates.
