Monza, coached by Alessandro Nesta, have definitively lost their chances of salvation and face the end of the season as absolute goners. In the last round of matches, they were again without a point after losing 2-0 away to Juventus. The defeat was their fifth in a row in Serie A and extended their winless run to 14 games, a bleak stretch in which Monza have managed just two draws. In the last five games, they have scored just once, showing a worrying lack of attacking creativity.
Atalanta continue to struggle at the top of Serie A, although Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have seen their goalscoring form drop significantly in recent games. After the 1-1 draw against Lecce, the Bergamo outfit have now failed to win in four of their last six league games, and in five of those they have failed to score more than one goal. Despite this, the team is still in the podium and still has a mathematical chance to fight for the Scudetto, relying on their consistency on the road.
