Malaga vs Racing Club Ferrol Prediction & Tips
Málaga was one of the modest but solid mid-table teams in the Primera División. And somehow, perhaps because of its location in the south of the Pyrenees, once conquered by the Moors, it was precisely the one that Al-Thani decided to acquire. Thus began the dramatic story of how Spanish football did not see the emergence of a ‘Manchester City’ of its own. Yes, this era started with Champions League playoff games, but it all ended with the drop to Spain’s third division. Well, at least they didn’t get stuck there: they returned to the Segunda last spring, albeit only through promotion matches, finishing second in their group.
The prospects of such a newcomer, despite their glorious past, were viewed with caution. And they don’t really win often. But they don’t lose much either, so the points were accumulating quite actively. In February and early March there were five rounds without defeat. But then at home they lost 0-2 to ‘Cadiz’, and repeated this score with ‘Albacete’.
Racing Ferrol has never reached the First Division. It has played in the second division intermittently, but after 2008 it has been oscillating between the third and the fourth league of the country. Only before last season did they finally manage to accumulate enough points to return to the Second Division after a decade and a half. And they even initially finished in the top-10 there.
But now things are going from bad to worse. Since mid-December there has been only one victory, over ‘Levante’. And at the end of the winter, the team started to lose against everyone, falling further and further down the standings. Only ‘Eibar’ on the last matchday did not score against them – they ended with a goalless draw.
