The Swiss club is riding a wave of three consecutive victories, which has allowed it to get back into the title race and move into second place in the league with 18 points from nine games, just one point behind the leaders. In the Europa League, Basel lost 1–2 in Freiburg, but responded perfectly by beating Stuttgart 2–0 at home. They therefore have three points after two games.
