Lens vs Arsenal Prediction & Tips
It’s already the start of Matchday 2 of the Champions League! And RC Lens will have their work cut out… Two weeks after a successful 1-1 draw away to Sevilla FC, the club from the Artesian peninsula will meet Group B favourites Arsenal. The meeting will take place at Bollaert-Delelis on Tuesday at 9:00 pm. The Sang et Or have managed to raise their game in Ligue 1, winning their last 2 matches. Is this enough to achieve a feat against the Gunners? The London club are well established on the Premier League podium and will be keen to continue their flawless run in the Champions League, following their 1st victory over PSV Eindhoven (4-0).
RC Lens had made a nightmarish start to the season. They had taken just one point from their first 5 Ligue 1 matches. However, the Sang et Or were able to raise their game on their return to the Champions League, taking a point away to Sevilla FC (1-1). And it was a result that did the club a world of good! Since then, Franck Haise’s men have won their last 2 league games, against Toulouse FC (2-1) and RC Strasbourg (0-1). All the more reason to move away from the red zone and boost their confidence ahead of their meeting with Arsenal. Arsenal are in fine form! They are on the Premier League podium, and are still unbeaten (5 wins and 2 draws). The Gunners qualified for the last eight of the EFL Cup and won the Community Shield. To top it all off, Mikel Arteta’s team made an excellent start to their Champions League campaign with a comprehensive 4-0 win over PSV Eindhoven.
RC Lens will be missing a few players. Wuilker Farinez, Jimmy Cabot, Massadio Haïdara and David Pereira da Costa will not be available. However, Franck Haise will be able to count on Elye Wahi, who has finally unlocked his scoring potential with his new team. His defense, with Jonathan Gradit, Kevin Danso and Facundo Medina, will also have its work cut out against the Gunners’ attack. As for Arsenal, Jurriën Timber and Thomas Partey will not be playing in this match. Mikel Arteta, however, has plenty of other players to hurt his opponents, including Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice.
