The first derby of the Serie A season will take place on Sunday 21 September 2025 at 12.30 pm at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, between Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio and Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma, teams that have 3 and 6 points respectively in the standings and are both coming off a defeat.
Lazio has had a terrible start to the season so far, managing only a 4-0 home win against Hellas Verona on the second matchday. In their other two matches, both played away from home, the Biancocelesti suffered two heavy defeats: they lost their opening game 2-0 in Como, and immediately after the break, they suffered another setback in Reggio Emilia against Sassuolo, losing 1-0.
The 1-0 defeat also proved costly for Roma on matchday three. However, the defeat came at home against Torino after the Giallorossi had managed to win by the same score at the Olimpico against Bologna and at the Arena Garibaldi in Pisa in the first two matchdays.
