Italy – Germany Prediction & Tips
The Renato Dall’Ara Stadium, located in the city of Bologna, Italy, will host the matchday 1 of the 2022-23 Nations League between Roberto Mancini’s Italy and Hansi Flick’s Germany. The Teutons are an old hand at the World Cup and have secured direct qualification for Qatar 2022, while ‘La Squadra Azzurra’ will be absent for the second consecutive time from football’s biggest event.
The Azzurri were eliminated in the first round of the play-offs for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. In that decisive match, held on 24 March, they came up against North Macedonia, who won in extra time in the second half. With this result, Italy bowed out of the World Cup for the second time in a row.
In the Nations League they have always been in League A and last season they finished third after beating Belgium 2-1. The protagonists of the win were Nicolò Barella and Domenico Berardi, both goals being the first two of the game and scored in the second half. Their League A Group 1 team-mates were the Netherlands, Poland and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ahead of the start of the 2022-23 Nations League season, Roberto Mancini’s side played a friendly against Turkey, winning 3-2 thanks to Bryan Cristante and Giacomo Raspadori (brace). They also have a match against Copa America 2021 champions Argentina scheduled for 1 June at Wembley Stadium (London).
