Getafe – Levante (Pick, Prediction, Preview) Preview

Getafe vs Levante Prediction & Tips

Getafe, who scored a valuable point in their visit to Real Sociedad last matchday, have only been defeated in one of their last nine games (G4, D4, P1) in LaLiga Santander (LL). The Azulones face matchday 23 with a margin of four points above the relegation zone, something that was difficult to imagine when the Madrid club occupied the last position with 0/21 points, four behind their rival this Friday.

Quique Sánchez Flores’s squad seeks to move even further away from the red zone of the table by defeating Levante, bottom team and who achieved their only victory in the current championship on January 8. The last two league clashes between the two at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez have resulted in a victory for Getafe, which has not conceded two or more goals against the Granota team at home since August 2002. With Quique, Geta’s goalscoring production at home has increased considerably: the azulón team has scored in five of their last six LL games at home (G5, E1, 2.0 goals pp).

Having garnered half the points (11) of their host to date, Levante continue to sink into the bottom of the table. The Granota team is nine points behind Mallorca (17th) after losing four of its five previous league games (G1, P4), the last of them 2-0 against Cádiz, another direct rival in the fight for permanence . With an average of more than two goals against per game in LL 2021-22 (2.05), Levante has reinforced its defense with the incorporation of Uruguayan central defender Martín Cáceres, the only signing of the Valencian club in the winter market.

Two points in ten outings (E2, P8) —the last seven ended in defeat— is Levante’s very poor record away from home in the current championship. The defensive problems of the Granotas are especially worrying away from home, and in their five most recent league trips they have conceded almost four goals per game (3.8). It should be noted that Levante reached the break ahead in three of those games, something that did not help them score points in any of them.
Players to watch: Enes Ünal, Getafe’s top scorer in LL 2021-22 (seven goals), returns after serving suspension. The Turkish striker has scored three goals in his last five LL games, and two of those goals have opened the scoring. For his part, the Granota captain José Luis Morales has scored in the second 45 minutes four of the six goals he has scored so far in the championship.
Featured fact: Getafe have kept a clean sheet in four of their last five LL home games played on a Friday (G3, D2).
