Coincidentally, the Go Ahead Eagles and PSV Eindhoven meet again this weekend, just days after their meeting in the National Cup. In midweek, it was the Eagles who prevailed 2-1. However, PSV are far superior in the Championship. Peter Bosz’s side are second in the table, five points behind current leaders Ajax Amsterdam. Having qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League, Eindhoven have a busy period ahead of them.
Opposite them, Go Ahead Eagles are through to the final of the Dutch National Cup following their victory over PSV on Wednesday evening. In the league, the Dutch club are a solid 7th with 35 points. The European zone is a long way off, with AZ Alkmaar in 4th on 43 points. In their last four matches in all competitions, GAE have won twice and lost twice. The results have been fairly inconsistent, too much to warrant a climb up the table.
