France are the big contenders heading into EURO 2020, having avoided defeat in 18 of their last 19 international matches (W15, E3, P1), with 11 of those wins accompanied by an advantage at halftime. “Les Bleus” have also failed to concede goals in their last three appearances (G3) and, in particular, a fourth consecutive unbeaten goal would mark their longest scoring streak since June 2008.
Older generations of French fans still have animosity towards Bulgaria, stemming from the 2-1 defeat at Parc des Princes in 1993, which prevented “Les Bleus” from reaching the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Players to watch: Five of the last six international matches where French striker Kylian Mbappé managed to see the rival’s goal and that finished with more than 1.5 goals have also seen Antoine Griezmann score. Meanwhile, Bulgarian Dimităr Iliev has been the last player to score in his respective match in his two previous international matches where he saw the rival’s goal, during clashes that produced exactly three goals.
