Eintracht Frankfurt vs Hoffenheim Prediction & Tips

Frankfurt, seventh in the table, have failed to win in their last four Bundesliga matches (D3, L1) following a series of thrilling encounters, mostly away from home, and last weekend’s 3-3 draw in Bremen saw Dino Toppmöller depart. The club had conceded their highest number of goals (39) after 18 games since the 1984/85 season before Toppmöller’s dismissal, and the defensive problems continued in interim manager Dennis Schmitt’s debut, with a 3-2 defeat to Qarabağ in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. Three of Schmitt’s first four league games will be at home, where Frankfurt are unbeaten in their last five Bundesliga fixtures (W3, D2), a run that presents a great opportunity to reignite their European aspirations.

Christian Ilzer’s position on the Hoffenheim bench is one of the most secure after a spectacular comeback: they rose from 11th place at the international break in October to third, thanks to eight wins in their last 11 Bundesliga games (D2, L1), a run in which only Borussia Dortmund have managed to beat them. Last weekend’s 1-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen demonstrated the Sinsheim side’s ability to overcome the strongest opponents in the league, something they have also achieved away from home, as the defeat to Dortmund is their only away defeat this season (W4, D3).
