The team left a good memory with their performances in the Premier League at the turn of the century, even being considered as contenders for European competitions. However, the Addicks failed to stay in the top flight and, over the last two decades, have alternated between the Championship and League One. In the current campaign, Nathan Jones has managed to significantly improve the team’s performance. In their first year back, they surprised by finishing in an outstanding 9th position.
In the current season, their results have been more discreet, but in January they managed to string together several important victories. First they beat Barnsley away, then they defeated Wrexham, one of the leading teams in the Championship, 3-2, also away from home. Finally, they closed the month with an emphatic 4-1 win over Exeter.
