CFR Cluj vs Paks Prediction & Tips
There was no winner in the first leg of the round of 16 between Hungarian club Paks and Romanian side CFR Cluj on 10 July. However, CFR Cluj slightly dominated the match, creating dangerous situations without managing to break through. The Romanians will therefore have to make the difference at the Stadionul Dr. Constantin Radulescu to advance to the quarter-finals in these qualifiers for the next phase of the Europa League.
CFR Cluj, which has suffered only one defeat since 20 April against FCSB (1-2) in the Romanian Super Cup final in early July, drew 0-0 in Hungary and beat Unirea Slobozia 2-1 this weekend on the first day of the Romanian championship thanks to a goal in added time by Dumbravanu (90th+4). Unbeaten at home since 28 September, almost 10 months ago, CFR Cluj had racked up nine wins and four draws at home in the league at the end of last season.
Paks lost its last away game in Gyor (2-0) on 26 April and could suffer another defeat on Romanian soil. In its last three outings, the Hungarian club has had three different results: one defeat in a pre-season friendly against Csikszereda M.Ciuc (0-2), a draw against CFR Cluj in the European Cup and a friendly win against Ivancsa (4-0) on 12 July. Third in the OTP Bank Liga last season, Paks won only 16 of their 33 league matches in 2024-2025.
