Next up were Finnish side KuPS; Kairat went down 2-0 away in the first leg, but came from behind to win 3-0 at home and advance to the next round. They then faced Slovan Bratislava, last year’s Champions League group stage participants. Kairat won 1-0 at home, lost 1-0 away.
