Brentford – West Ham (Pick, Prediction, Preview) Preview

Brentford vs West Ham Prediction & Tips

After a difficult start to the Premier League (PL) season, in which Brentford won just once in the first eight rounds (E4, P3), they have since scored five unanswered goals in consecutive victories. The most recent win was a 2-0 victory over Chelsea, which was a third consecutive victory at Stamford Bridge and extended their unbeaten run in London derbies to 13 matches – only two clubs have managed a longer streak.
The Bees now have the chance to extend that run even further here against another London rival, West Ham United. The chances of that happening seem plentiful as Brentford can take inspiration from their 100% PL winning record against the Irons (G4), scoring exactly twice in each clash and keeping three clean sheets along the way.

It is also the second London derby in a row for West Ham after the midweek EFL Cup match against Arsenal. All of the Irons’ extracurricular activity in cup competitions may well be taking its toll as they are in danger of losing three consecutive games in the PL for the first time this season after a 4-1 defeat to Aston Villa and another at home 1-0 to struggling Everton.
While West Ham’s recent away form has been up and down, they have at least managed to score in all five of their away games in the PL this season (G2, E1, P2). They may be thankful for being underdogs in this match, as West Ham has a rather admirable unbeaten percentage of 50% when carrying that tag in the PL this season (G2, E1, P3), which is the same amount of wins they got as “underdogs” in a league match throughout the entire last campaign.
Players to watch: Bryan Mbeumo has been involved in four of Brentford’s five goals prior to this clash (two goals and two assists) and also contributed four goals in the same amount of clashes against the Hammers (three goals and one assist). Jarrod Bowen is equally influential, having six PL goals to his name for West Ham this season, although two of his last three were registered in defeats.
Weekend stat: West Ham have lost eight of their last nine away games in PL London derbies (G1).
