Betis vs Cadiz CF Prediction & Tips
Real Betis suffered on Thursday a new setback in its poor start to the campaign, losing 1-0 away to Rangers on the first day of the Europa League to add three defeats in their last five official matches (G1, E1, P3). After the clash in Glasgow, Manuel Pellegrini considered the result “unfair”, although the veteran Chilean coach ended up “satisfied with the team’s personality”, which in the last 20 minutes had chances to level the score.
Betis’ only win in their five most recent matches came at the Benito Villamarín, where this Sunday they will be looking for a reaction to get back to the top of the table. Los Verdiblancos have lost just one of their previous seven home games (G3, E3, P1) in LaLiga EA Sports (LL), but none of the last four have featured more than two goals.
Many Cadiz fans will surely be pleased with their team’s campaign to date (G2, E1, P2, GF 5, GC 7). The Cadiz side’s record in their first five games is their best since an almost identical one in 2020-21 – then, the Yellows conceded one less goal – a season in which they finished twelfth. Sergio González’s side head into the derby after losing 3-0 to Athletic Club in a match in which all the goals came in the second half, which is a little worrying for a squad that has yet to score beyond the 60th minute in the current campaign.
The Tacita de Plata club have scored just one goal in their last five outings in LL (E1, P4) and have yet to score away from home this season, a drought they need to break immediately after the drubbing at San Mames. Cadiz have not fared badly at the Villamarin in recent times; the Yellows have lost on just one of their last four visits to the Bético’s home ground (G2, E1, P1).
Players to watch: Ayoze Perez’s contribution could be key to a good start for Betis in this derby. The Tenerife striker has scored his five goals in first halves as a Betis player since his arrival at the Sevillian club in January. Gonzalo Escalante, the last player to have found the back of the net for Cadiz away from home, has assisted in two of the Yellows’ last three league games.
Serie A highlight reel: Cádiz have yet to go into halftime with the score against them this term (1T: G2, E3).
