Bayer Leverkusen vs Werder Bremen Prediction & Tips
Leverkusen lost 2-0 to Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) midweek and has now lost three consecutive matches in all competitions. In the longer term, Kasper Hjulmand’s side have managed just three wins in their last nine games (D1, L5), a worrying run that includes defeats in two of their three most recent home league games (W1). This poor run has seen Die Werkself slip to sixth in the Bundesliga, but they should be confident of starting their recovery here, as they have performed well in the league this season against opponents who start the day outside the top four (W9, D2, L1).
Werder conceded a last-gasp goal to draw 3-3 with Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend. Although the point is not bad in itself, that result has extended their winless run in the Bundesliga to seven games (D3, L4), currently the longest among teams in the German top flight. Horst Steffen’s men have fallen down the table as a result and now look more like a team fighting to avoid relegation than one that was aiming for Europe just a few weeks ago, although they have a game in hand on several of their direct rivals. A win here would be a morale boost for a team that starts this matchday just five points above the relegation play-off spot, but it would be a surprise considering that Bremen have not won in their last seven away games (D3, L4).
