With two games left in the season, Bayer no longer have any real motivation. Leverkusen are in second place with 68 points and have already lost all chances of winning the Bundesliga for the second year in a row. Nor can they drop from second place. In all other competitions, Bayer are already out of contention.
Borussia Dortmund are close to saving their season. Croatian coach Niko Kovac took the reins when the team was eleventh, but a run of great results and the slip-ups of their rivals have catapulted the ‘Bumblebees’ to fifth place. They are now only one point out of the Top 4. But it is clear that to get into the Champions League, the Black-and-Blacks must win both their games and hope that Freiburg drop points.
