Bayer Leverkusen vs Augsburg Prediction & Tips
Two teams from opposite ends of the Bundesliga table meet this Saturday, with Bayer Leverkusen continuing their quest for European places by hosting Augsburg – a team Leverkusen have never lost to (W15, D8). However, there is always a first time, and Leverkusen will surely not be complacent, especially after winning just one of their last five Bundesliga games (E2, P2), although that victory came precisely last weekend.
A clean sheet in 12 Bundesliga games has contributed to their decline and further concern is added to the equation considering that seven of those games saw Leverkusen conceding two or more goals. Still, Gerardo Seoane’s side have managed to balance this out by having one of the most dangerous attacks in the league – only the top two Bundesliga finishers have scored more than their 44 goals to start the day. With four of Augsburg’s last five Bundesliga games (G1, D3, L1) finishing under 2.5 goals, this clash could be short on goals despite Leverkusen’s attacking prowess, though one in the dying minutes shouldn’t be ruled out – three of those meetings mentioned above had a goal after the 80th minute. In fact, this has also been the case in five of the last six clashes between the two clubs.
Players to watch: Leverkusen striker Patrick Schick is having an excellent season, having scored 18 Bundesliga goals so far, although only four have opened the scoring. For his part, Michael Gregoritsch is the only Augsburg player to have scored in his last 274 minutes of play in the Bundesliga.
