Arsenal vs Bayer Leverkusen Prediction & Tips
Arsenal took another step toward the Premier League title with a 2-0 victory over Everton, extending their 13-game unbeaten streak in official competitions (10 wins, 3 draws) ahead of a decisive stretch for the club. This second leg in the UCL is the first of a series of three consecutive cup matches for the Gunners, and they should be confident in their chances of advancing, given that they have moved on in 17 of 20 two-legged ties when they did not lose the first leg on the road. Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal has lost just one of its 16 home UCL matches (W13, D2), and the fact that that defeat came against eventual champions PSG suggests it will take something special to beat them here.
Leverkusen impressed after the first leg, drawing again with Bayern Munich over the weekend, which puts them in a good position to trouble the Gunners once more, having gone six matches without a loss (W1, D5). Leverkusen hasn’t reached the UCL quarterfinals since the 2001/02 season and has failed to score in any of its last three away second-leg matches in the UCL round of 16 (1 draw, 2 losses). Coach Kasper Hjulmand can still be cautiously optimistic ahead of this away trip, however, as his team has not lost in its last four UCL matches and has already won in England this season, defeating Manchester City 2-0.
