Wolves vs Sunderland Prediction & Tips
The Wolves will be playing in the Championship next season, and after losing their last three league games without scoring, they are approaching the end of their eight-season stint in the Premier League in dire straits. This is nothing new for the Molineux faithful, who have seen their team finish recent seasons poorly, as evidenced by the fact that they have won just one of their last 18 top-flight matches played in May (D4, L13), with that lone victory coming in 2023 (D2, L8 since then). Although they have failed to score in 18 Premier League matches this season—more than any other team—their recent home form has been somewhat more positive, as they have lost only one of their last four league matches at Molineux (W2, D1), scoring exactly two goals in three of those games.
Sunderland can consider themselves lucky to be virtually safe from relegation, given that they have conceded nine goals in their last two Premier League matches, losing both and complicating their chances of finishing in the top half of the table. They haven’t conceded four or more goals in three consecutive league matches since 1928, so they’ll do everything possible to avoid that negative record as they continue to fight for their first Top 10 finish in this division since the 2010/11 season. Their recent away form in the top flight has been fairly solid (W2, D1, L1), so the “Black Cats” travel with hopes of putting in a better performance in the Midlands.
