Modena celebrated an unpleasant date last season: it was exactly 20 years since they last played in Serie A, although they didn’t manage to stand out then either. However, in the last few decades they have gone through some really difficult times, suffice to say that they only managed to return to the Italian second division in 2022. Back in Serie B, their performance was mediocre, literally: they scored 47 points, the same as several rivals, which allowed them to finish in tenth position.
Cesena are trying to regain their reputation as a relevant force in Italian football after another period of crisis. They even went bankrupt, although in Italy this is a fairly common process. And so is the process of resurgence: they relaunched the project and gradually grew, to the point of winning their third division group last season, which allowed them to be promoted back to Serie B.
