Borussia Dortmund are having a disappointing season. Although they still have time to react and fight for a place in the top four, they need to start doing so immediately. After 20 games, the team is only 11th in the table, but the gap to fourth place is only four points due to the high level of competition in the standings.
The match against Stuttgart will mark Niko Kovač’s debut as Borussia Dortmund coach, following his unexpected appointment in place of Nuri Şahin. However, in the previous matches, they had scored important victories against Freiburg (4-0) and Leipzig (2-1).
