Liverpool – West Ham (Pick, Prediction, Preview) Preview

Liverpool vs West Ham Prediction & Tips

After failing to win three of their first five games to start last season’s disappointing Premier League (PL) campaign, Liverpool have completely turned things around by winning their last four league games after an opening day draw against Chelsea. However, manager Jürgen Klopp has experienced some headaches along the way, with his side conceding first in three of those wins, meaning he has seen his side win 36 PL games and secure 138 points after being behind on the scoreboard during his tenure at Anfield, both league highs in that time.
Their 3-1 midweek UEFA Europa League (UEL) win over LASK followed a similar pattern after trailing 1-0 at halftime, being almost a carbon copy of the 3-1 victory over Wolves in their last league outing that extended the Reds’ unbeaten run in PL to 16 games (G11, E5), currently the longest such run in the division.

Visiting West Ham United won their midweek UEL match by the same scoreline after conceding first, but suffered the opposite in their last PL match when they lost 3-1 to Manchester City. That ended the Hammers’ unbeaten league start, where their potential was demonstrated with impressive wins over Chelsea, Brighton and Luton.

West Ham can now aim for three consecutive away league wins for the first time since October 2021, but current manager David Moyes will know exactly what to expect. He will boldly attempt to secure what would be only the Hammers’ second win in their last 54 visits to Anfield (E13, P39), which would also give them their first win against Klopp (E7, P13).
Players to watch: Mohamed Salah has scored or assisted in his last 11 PL games (five goals, nine assists), making him the second Liverpool player to record 200 contributions on goal in the PL (139 goals, 62 assists). West Ham’s James Ward-Prowse has been equally consistent, playing a part in 12 goals in his last 10 games (four goals, eight assists), while seven of his last 10 goals have come away from home.
Key stat: Both teams have scored in each of West Ham’s last nine matches.
