Switzerland vs Portugal Prediction & Tips
After the victory over the Czech Republic, by 2-0, in Alvalade, the National Team faces Switzerland, this Sunday, at Stade de Genève, in a game counting for the fourth round of the group stage of League of Nations A. The Portuguese team is the lone leader of this group 2, with seven points, after drawing with Spain (1-1), in Seville, and after beating the Swiss (4-0) and Czechs (2-0), in both cases at Estádo José Alvalade, in Lisbon. The Swiss, for their part, remain in last place without a point after losing 2-1 to the Czech Republic and 0-1 to Spain. The Swiss have now gone five games without a win in a row and are far from convincing.
With nuestros hermanos (Our Country) hosting the Eastern Europeans, Portugal will be looking to maintain their lead at the top of the table, knowing that a win in Geneva would represent a giant step towards the final-four of the competition. At the same time, Fernando Santos is already testing some solutions for the Qatar World Cup and the last two matches have shown a Portuguese team with a quality football. Bernardo Silva was the star of the match against the Czechs, with two assists. Switzerland will be practically out of the race and will only be looking for their first points in this group stage. Will the Portuguese team be able to repeat the excellent performance of Alvalade and overcome again the Swiss?
Portugal won the first round match by a clear 4-0.
The Portuguese team is the sole leader of the group with seven points from three games.
The Swiss have lost all three of their matches.
The Swiss have scored only one goal in three games played.
Portugal have lost only one of their last ten matches.
Portugal comfortably won their first-leg in Lisbon 4-0 and travel to Geneva in search of another victory. We won’t know until close to the start of the game who will be able to face the Swiss but the majority of the Portuguese players who have played in the three previous games have given excellent performances. The Swiss haven’t scored yet and they are fragile both in defence and attack. We believe that Portugal will get at least a point in this clash with Switzerland.
